OUR TENETS

As enrolled Orutsararmiut Tribal Citizens, we seek to strengthen genuine ties through these tenets:

WE SHOW CARE. We stand up for and with each other—no matter what we look like, where we live, or the circumstances we find ourselves in.

WE COME PREPARED. We are ready for what’s already here and coming. We know our tribal government needs our help to mature! We are informed. We ask questions, offer and expect feedback, and seek positive actions. We suggest improvements and solutions. We Zoom, call in, email, and COVID-safely visit ONC to be heard— whatever our viewpoints or situation. When hard conversations are needed, we speak clearly, with compassion—dignity intact.

WE CARRY THE WATER. We work individually and collectively to break new trails. We remain committed to our continuance as a unified tribe of good people working together. We reach for the betterment of all citizens and descendants—current and future generations. We honor all sacred homelands, waterways, and air.

WE PLAN AHEAD. We insist on

self-governance, accountability, and open communication. Exercising our nation’s sovereignty means we expect our Council to evolve and prioritize value-based leadership, to openly seek citizen input to develop and formally authorize ONC policy positions, and to publicly recommit to and consistently uphold ancient philosophies governing our lives.
